Thompson, D-Buffalo, recently presented a $100,000 check to Kenneth A. Sass, president and chief executive officer of Family&Children’s Service of Niagara, as work began on the agency’s $2.2 million project at 1522 Main St. Family&Children’s Service has raised more than $1.8 million for the Main Street Family Center since purchasing the property last year. The site will serve as the home office of the agency and as a “One Stop Family Center” consolidating 60 staff members now at five locations across a 10-block area in the Falls. In addition to support from the City of Niagara Falls and several state representatives, early funding partners include the John R. Oishei Foundation ($500,000); the Grigg-Lewis Foundation ($300,000); and Patrick P. Lee Foundation ($100,000). Also, the Maid of the Mist Corp. ($100,000); the James H. Cummings Foundation ($50,000); the M&TCharitable Foundation ($50,000); and $10,000 from both the Western New York Foundation and the Bank of America Foundation.
